Pedestrian Killed By Car In Danvers

DANVERS (CBS) – A woman in her 70s died from injuries she suffered after being hit by a car in Danvers on Tuesday morning.

The woman was struck on Hobart Street just after 7 a.m.

CPR was in progress on the woman when firefighters arrived at the scene.

She was taken to Beverly Hospital but did not survive.

The drivers involved in the crash stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police.

A close friend of the victim said solar glare likely caused the crash.

The woman told WBZ-TV that she and the victim go for a walk every morning together.

On Tuesday her friend was crossing the street. The woman said she turned around to pick up a bag, and by the time she turned back around her friend was laying injured in her driveway.

She said the driver was visibly shaken by the incident.

"He got out, he was a wreck. He said 'I didn't see her, I didn't see her' because of the sun," the woman said. "The sun is terrible. You get the hill and it really is bad."

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
