Patriots Unveil 'Color Rush' Uniforms To Be Worn Week 3 Vs. Texans

BOSTON (CBS) -- It's almost time for the NFL to kick off another season of Thursday Night Football, which means another year of "Color Rush" uniforms. The boldly monochromatic yet wildly polarizing uniforms will be donned by Patriots players when they take on the Houston Texans in their Week 3 showdown on Thursday, Sept. 22 at Gillette Stadium.

In anticipation of the game and its lightning-rod alternate uniforms, the Patriots Pro Shop tweeted Monday afternoon that the team plans to unveil its Color Rush uniforms on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m.. The unis will be the first alternate jerseys for the Patriots since 2003.

According to an apparent leak of the league's full list of color schemes, the Patriots will wear red Color Rush uniforms, meaning they will likely be very red, almost entirely. The Texans will apparently wear dark blue in the Sept. 22. contest.

UPDATE: The Patriots revealed their Color Rush uniforms Tuesday morning, and they turned out to be blue, not red. The inside collar reads, "We Are All Patriots."

The Patriots and the league will have to hope that the Patriots' or Texans' red uniforms would not interfere with the ability of their colorblind viewers to watch or enjoy the game. The Bills and Jets inadvertently caused a firestorm when they played wearing all-red and all-green uniforms on Thursday Night Football, which left the game unwatchable for many fans.
