Cambridge Man Accused Of Secretly Recording Nude Women In Apartments

SOMERVILLE (CBS) - Among the many young professionals living with multiple roommates in Somerville was Teddy Browar-Jarus.

The 32-year old, who now lives in Cambridge, is accused of secretly recording some of the women whom lived with him and visited his apartments. Somerville Police have identified 13 women in the videos.

Detectives said the videos were taken in the bedrooms and bathroom, and they show women in various stages of undress and sexual activity.

"It's pretty scary," said one former roommate who did not want to be identified. She just found out about the investigation.

Several former roommates described him as socially awkward.

"He mostly kept to himself. He was a little strange sometimes," said the former roommate.

Police started the investigation last year when a roommate heard a beeping sound in her bedroom that led her to a cell phone with the camera facing the bed. The name "Teddy" was on the home screen.

Detectives reported they found videos taken in 2011, and 2013 through 2015. They said they found Browar-Jarus had lots of recording devices including a camera in a plastic hook used to hang towels in the bathroom. He's accused of using it to record women in the shower at two Somerville apartments.

It has at least one roommate going over the time they lived together and wondering if she missed anything.

Browar-Jarus is free on his own recognizance.

He faces 26 counts of secretly recording an unsuspecting nude person, 11 counts of willful recording of oral conversations, and one count of attempting to video record an unsuspecting person in a state of nudity.

He's due in court October 7th.
