Slain Officer To Be Honored Before Auburn-Leicester Football Game

AUBURN (CBS) – The Auburn and Leicester High School football teams will honor Ronald Tarentino Thursday night with a special pregame ceremony and fundraising efforts that will benefit the slain officer's memorial fund.

Tarentino, an Auburn police officer, was shot and killed during a traffic stop in May. Prior to joining the Auburn Police Department, Tarentino worked as an officer in Leicester.

Prior to Thursday night's season opener at Auburn High School, Massachusetts State Police will perform a flyover while Tarentino's wife takes part in the opening coin toss.

Ticket sales from the game will benefit the Officer Ron Tarentino Memorial Fund. More than 2,000 tickets have been sold so far.

Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 7 p.m., with the pregame ceremony taking place at 6:40 p.m.
