Police: Teens In Hooded Sweatshirts Steal 22 Phones From Apple Store

HINGHAM (CBS) – A group of about a dozen teens simultaneously stole 22 phones from an Apple Store in Hingham Monday evening, police said.

Authorities are calling this an “organized retail theft.” Police said there were about 10 to 12 thieves, described as black teen males who were all wearing sweatshirts with hoods on.

Some of the culprits fled the scene in a white car, possibly a Ford Taurus, that had its plate covered, according to police.

The theft took place at 5:40 p.m. No surveillance video has been released yet.

The value of the stolen phones is estimated at over $14,000.

$14,000 if the phones worked. However it’s pretty easy to disable the phones (or in this case fail to activate them) making them useless. Better yet, activate them and use the GPS to find out who has them.

HAHA! They’re a day early. The were probably 6’s. The 7 comes out tomorrow, making all of these obsolete. Everyone knows you can’t be seen with last week’s iPhone!

You don’t suppose that if they come out tomorrow, that the store already had them in house??
