2 Injured In Collision Involving Bourne Police Cruiser

BOURNE (CBS) -- A Bourne Police officer and a woman were hurt when the woman drove into the officer's cruiser early Monday morning, police said.

The crash happened at the intersection of Norris and Harlow Farm Roads around 1:40 a.m.

Bourne Police said the woman, identified as a 23-year-old from Sagamore Beach, was speeding and failed to stop at a stop sign. They said she struck the police cruiser in its side, and both cars spun into nearby yards.

The cruiser and the woman's Nissan Altima were both heavily damaged.

Both the officer and the woman were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries, and were later released.

Police said alcohol or drugs were not a factor.

The woman was cited for operating to endanger, speeding, and failure to stop for a stop sign.
