Keller @ Large: Charlie Manning, Joanna Weiss Talk Trump, Clinton

BOSTON (CBS) — In a campaign that has had many remarkable weeks, WBZ political analyst Jon Keller said this past week was one of the most remarkable.

Political analysts Charlie Manning and Joanna Weiss sat down with Keller to talk about Donald Trump‘s trip to Mexico and voter’s issues with Hillary Clinton‘s emails and the Clinton Foundation.

Keller asked Weiss about the differences between Trump’s immigration speech with the Mexican president last week and the speech he gave later that night in Phoenix, Arizona.

“I think the speech that he gave on Wednesday night confirmed who Donald Trump is, and who he’s going after,” Weiss said. “He is a guy who goes for red meat. He is a guy full of trigger language. He’s a fear-mongerer. The fact that he’s fear-mongering while reading off of a teleprompter doesn’t make him any less of a fear-mongerer.”

While Weiss said she thought Trump wasn’t presidential in Mexico, Manning disagreed–and said he even looked better than the Mexican president.

“I thought he was terrific in the press conference,” said Manning. “He took it over. In fact, one of the questions he was asked is, ‘Did paying for the wall come up?’ He said ‘It came up but we really didn’t discuss it.’ Five feet away is the president of Mexico. He could have said at that time, ‘Sure we did, and I told him we’re not paying for it.’ Instead, he sends out a tweet two hours after Trump has left the country.”

On the Clinton Foundation, Jon said it feels like the candidate can’t get out of her own way. Weiss agreed.

“The breadth of the Clinton self-inflicted wounds is just astounding,” said Weiss. “It was no secret to anyone that she was eventually going to run for president. So the idea that she didn’t sort of put systems in place to distance herself from the Clinton Foundation, that this wouldn’t come up … it goes on and on, and there are many simple ways to cut ties that she never did.”

“She’s the luckiest person in the world that she’s running against Donald Trump, because he diverts all the attention from all of this,” she added.

But Manning said he believes Trump can still pull off a win.

“You saw her numbers just crashing this week,” said Manning. “She came out of her convention up there, some trust numbers…even women voters don’t like her and don’t trust her anymore. So these trust numbers are very important.”

The group also discussed Donald Trump’s stance and tone on illegal immigration.

Everything about Trump is crooked, everything.

15 years of Clinton’s taxes are online. The last years of Trump’s tax returns show him losing more money than he made.

If Hillary Clinton is elected president the Clinton Foundation should be shuttered. That action would certainly help stifle the pay-to-play allegations. Otherwise I imagine those allegations will remain suspect and continue to fester – along with leaving the impression that rich, powerful and well-connected foundation donors may have privileged access to a Hillary Clinton presidency.

This shows that Trump will do what he states he will do. Hillary is showing what the Clintons are all about…corruption. She created a private email system to be able to wipe evidence if she is being investigated, their foundation is just an old time slush fund and the FACT that our justice system has not charged her proved that justice is the farthest thing from its agenda will ruin this country.

Any wonder why people like Trump…the media, like Hillary, are nothing but con-artists.

  6. You Must Be Joking says:

The progressive liberals who loathe Trump so much have only themselves to blame for his candidacy. If they were more tolerant of people whose opinions differed from their own, the conservatives might have a more rational candidate than Trump. Instead, they have forgotten (or never learned, in the case of millennials) the art of compromise and tolerance of other’s opinions. The intolerant liberal attitude of “agree with me or you’re a bigot, sexist, racist, ignorant, etc.” has given rise to Trump’s popularity. If he wins the election, it will be your intolerance, self-righteousness, and political correctness that put him in office.
