2 Charged In Assault Of 17-Year-Old Girl In Dudley Woods

DUDLEY (CBS) -- Police searched a wooded area Sunday night to find a 17-year-old girl who called them to say she had been assaulted and was now lost.

Two people were charged in the assault, which police say happened at a camp fire in the woods near Hayden Pond and Baker Pond Roads.

The girl reported the assault around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

She told police that she was at the camp fire when another girl punched her in the head several times.

After the assault, she became lost, and dispatchers had to use GPS to find her.

Dudley Police and Fire, as well as members of the Charlton Police Department, helped search for the girl.

She was taken out of the woods on an off-road vehicle owned by the Dudley Fire Department and taken to Harrington Hospital in Hubbard.

The girl was treated for injuries to her head and face, and released.

Dudley Police said her assault arose from "a misunderstanding involving the suspect's boyfriend."

They said a male and female were identified as being involved in the girl's assault, and that the two will face assault and battery charges after being summonsed to court.
