18-Year-Old Woman, Dog Shot In Dorchester

DORCHESTER (CBS) - Boston Police are searching for suspects in the shooting of an 18-year-old Dorchester woman early Thursday morning.

A friend says she was sitting outside a home on McLellan Street with 18-year-old Dashaye Mizhari when they heard an argument. That was followed by an outburst of gunfire that sent the friends running, Mizhari was likely shot as she ran for cover.

"I ran and I thought she ran behind me but she didn't," said the friend who did not want to be identified.

The victim's aunt says she made it to her own home on nearby Page Street and collapsed on the floor saying she had been shot. "What is the wrong place at the wrong time? We should be able to sit where we want to, walk where we want to and not be hit by bullets."

A dog was also shot in the leg and transported with the help of officers, who Boston Police say paid the admitting fee at Angell Memorial Hospital to help the owner.

But Mizhari, who was shot three times, is in the intensive care unit and neighbors say they want to know who's responsible. "A lot more people not from the neighborhood are coming into the neighborhood and hanging out until very late," said Bianka Cabrera.

Bullet holes were visible on nearby cars and pierced some homes and windows.
