More People Are Donating Their Bodies To Science

BOSTON (CBS) - Any medical student can tell you how important it is to study anatomy using a real human body, and some institutions have had trouble meeting their needs.

But now there has now been a huge rise in the number of people donating their bodies to science. In fact, according to the Associated Press, the University of Buffalo doubled its donations to 600 cadavers in the past decade and the University of Minnesota nearly tripled there's to 550 cadavers.

There are two possible reasons. Funeral costs are higher and once frowned upon by some religions, cadaver donation has less stigma than it did in years past.

Cadaver donations are invaluable for both medical training and research.
