Everett Police Officer Accused Of Kicking Pregnant Wife In Stomach

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say an Everett police officer charged with assaulting his pregnant wife has been placed on administrative leave without pay.

Michael Mori was arrested Monday after his wife, who is seven months pregnant, reported to Salisbury police that he struck her in the face and kicked her in the stomach on Sunday.

Mori was arraigned Tuesday in Newburyport District Court on charges of assault and battery on a family member, assault and battery on a pregnant victim and strangulation. He was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

Everett police say Mori is a three-year veteran of the force.

It's unclear when Mori will next appear in court or if he has an attorney who could comment.
