Teen Shot Three Times In South Boston
BOSTON (CBS) - A teenager just shy of his 16th birthday is in serious condition after he was shot and seriously wounded in South Boston late Monday night.
Police say the 15-year-old boy was in a car when he was shot at the Mary Ellen McCormick development on Gavin Way around 11:40 p.m. He was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where he had surgery overnight.
"He was shot three times and, according to the doctors, there's a good chance he may survive," Boston Police Superintendent Bernie O'Rourke told reporters Tuesday.
There have been no arrests.
According to Mayor Marty Walsh, this summer has been relatively quiet--but he's looking for alternatives to cool this area, which he says is a "hot spot."
"We can get more cameras up around that facility. That's been kind of a hot spot this summer," said Walsh. "Even though there hasn't been a lot of shootings there, it's been a hot spot."
Police are asking anyone with information to call them.
