Tom Brady Misses Patriots Preseason Game To Attend Family Member's Memorial Services
BOSTON (CBS) -- Tom Brady was not expected to play in Thursday night's preseason opener, but shortly before kickoff, the team announced that Brady wouldn't even be in attendance.
According to the team, Brady was excused from Thursday night's game so that he could attend the memorial services of a family member.
Earlier on Thursday, Brady shared a memory of his first preseason game back in the year 2000.
Brady's in the midst of a complicated professional summer, due to his impending four-game suspension, which will take place at the conclusion of the preseason and commencement of the regular season. Third-year quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is likely to receive the bulk of preseason snaps as he prepares to make his first four career NFL starts.
