Julian Edelman Gets Valuable One-On-One Time With Tom Brady In Return To Practice Field

By Matt Dolloff, CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- The mere presence of Julian Edelman on the Patriots practice field was a welcome sight, and so was the one-on-one time he had with quarterback Tom Brady. The chemistry between No. 11 and No. 12 is obvious, but it's always good to make that timing as sharp as possible.

Edelman knows he won't be able to work on anything with Brady during the first four weeks of the season, so he made sure to get in some one-on-one while he can. His comments to reporters after Sunday's practice show how much importance he places on keeping himself and Brady on the same page.

"Any time you have one-on-one time with any quarterback, it's very valuable," Edelman said. "[Sunday], me and Tom [Brady] got to throw a few and that's always good to kind of see where we're at, see our timing, have him see my mechanics, me see his mechanics, me catch his ball. It will be good to get out here and do that with multiple guys."

The extra practice with Brady is already paying off. Edelman reportedly made a circus catch in the corner of the end zone on a pass from Brady during 11-on-11 drills.

Knowing how hard Brady and Edelman work together and how intense they are even in practice, you can be certain Brady wishes he made a better throw and Edelman wasn't satisfied with how hard he spiked the ball. Good to see that Brady and Edelman's chemistry doesn't look the least bit rusty. I'm thinking Brady will be fine with a month off.
