Bridgewater Police: Man Asked Young Girls To Get In Van And Play Pokemon Go
BRIDGEWATER (CBS) – An investigation is underway after Bridgewater police say a man asked three young girls to get in his van and play Pokemon Go.
Police said Saturday night that the dark-skinned, shirtless man in a black minivan pulled up alongside the 11-year-old girls who were walking on Lady Slipper Road at about 6:30 p.m.
He asked them to get in and play the popular augmented reality game, according to authorities.
The girls declined and ran away, police said.
The minivan driver is described as a "well-built, dark-skinned male in his 20s," police said. Tattoos could be seen on his arms and chest.
Officers have been going door-to-door to find possible witnesses.
"The town of Bridgewater, you would think of as being a quiet community, but it just shows you this thing can happen anywhere, we really have to be vigilant and take care of our children," Bridgewater police Sgt. Lawrence Bresciani said.
"We were really upset at what happened and hope the girls are OK," said Judy Quirk, who told WBZ that police asked her if she'd seen anything suspicious.
