Somerset Family Endures 2 House Fires In Less Than 3 Months

SOMERSET (CBS) - There is nothing left of the Gosselin home in Somerset.

Nothing.

Early Monday morning, fire destroyed the house that was home to a family of four.

Believe it or not, they had another fire here back in May, a smaller one, and they were just starting to rebuild.

"This happening is just, I don't know, we're dealing with it, a lot better than we did the first time," home owner Gary Gosselin told WBZ-TV.

Since the May fire, the family has been living in a rented trailer next to their house.

But now, because of this, the trailer will remain home.

"Our lives were normal, as it could be, living in that tiny trailer, but we've got everything we need," said Gary.

Arson is not likely the cause of either fire. But while authorities investigate, they marvel at the family's resiliency.

"It's amazing to me that they have that attitude and they're like rocks. It's amazing." Somerset Fire Chief Scott Jepson told WBZ.

But the family says their attitude comes from their neighbors.

"(They) donate clothes, donate food. It's amazing. It restores my faith in humanity a little bit," said Gary.
