Patriots Place Edelman, Six Others On PUP List Before Start Of Training Camp

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots placed seven players on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on Monday as 2016 training camp approaches. Wide receiver Julian Edelman headlines the names added to the list as he continues to recover from a Jones fracture in his left foot.

Also placed on the PUP list are receiver Danny Amendola (knee/ankle), running back Dion Lewis (knee), tackle Sebastian Vollmer (leg), guards Tre' Jackson (knee) and Shaq Mason, and tight end Clay Harbor.

PUP list rules dictate that any player who begins the regular season on the list is not eligible to return to the field until after Week 6. Players on PUP take up spots on the 90-man roster and can come off the list at any time during camp.

Patriots training camp officially begins on Thursday, July 28. All rookies reported on time before their Sunday deadline and some veterans have already reported to camp prior to Wednesday's veteran deadline, including quarterback Tom Brady.
