NFL Clears Peyton Manning Of PED Use After Seven-Month Investigation
BOSTON (CBS) -- Peyton Manning has been cleared of any use of human growth hormone or other performance-enhancing drugs during his playing career, the NFL announced Monday.
ESPN's Adam Schefter first tweeted the news, then the NFL released a statement saying they found "no credible evidence" that Manning was provided with HGH or any other substances banned by the league.
"The Mannings were fully cooperative with the investigation and provided both interviews and access to all records sought by the investigators," the statement reads in part. The league started its investigation in January and included "witness interviews, a review of relevant records and other materials, online research, and laboratory analysis and review," according to the statement.
Manning was originally implicated as a potential HGH user in a documentary by the now-defunct Al Jazeera America. The league's statement added that other players named in the documentary with alleged ties to PED use, including the Packers' Clay Matthews and Steelers' James Harrison, are still "separately" being investigated by the league.
