Celtics Pick Yabusele Reportedly Signs With Shanghai Sharks

BOSTON (CBS) -- For the Celtics fans hoping to get a taste of what the "French Draymond Green" can bring to the NBA, you'll have to re-watch tape from the summer league.

Guerschon Yabusele, drafted 16th overall by the Celtics in June's draft, has signed a one-year deal with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association. Yabusele could make up to $1.5 million with the deal, which was first reported by The Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach.

The season overseas should give Yabusele, 20, plenty of playing time as he hones his skills on the floor. He was impressive during Boston's recent run in the Utah and Las Vegas summer leagues, averaging 8.2 points and six rebounds over eight contests, but it was clear he still needs to put in a lot of work on the defensive end despite his 7-foot-2 wingspan.

The 6-foot-8 Frenchman is one of two first-round picks by the Celtics who will likely be a "draft and stash" player this year. Croatian center Ante Zizic, who the Celtics drafted 23rd overall last month, is also expected to spend the season overseas.
