WATCH: Julian Edelman Hits One Into Monster Seats During BP

BOSTON (CBS) --  Julian Edelman is a versatile guy, making the transition from college quarterback to one of Tom Brady's go-to receivers. He showed another level of his athleticism on Wednesday.

Edelman took over Fenway Park ahead of the Red Sox' game against the San Francisco Giants, taking some batting practice and gloving some grounders on the infield.

Edelman, using Dustin Pedroia's bat, put on a show in the cage. He hit numerous warning track shots, and went deep seven times according to WBZ-TV's Steve Burton.

"Unbelievable experience," Edelman said, noting it was Red Sox third base coach Brian Butterfield (a die-hard Patriots fan) who arraigned his day at the ball yard.

On using Pedroia's bat, Edelman said he was nervous about breaking it: "You don't want to break Excalibur's sword."

This footage may be a bit concerning for Patriots fans, as Edelman is currently recovering from a Jones fracture in his left foot. But based on what he showed off on the diamond, Edelman looks like he'll be ready to go on the football field when Patriots training camp begins next week.
