Too-Tall Firetruck Slams Into Westwood Bridge

WESTWOOD (CBS) – A Medway firetruck became the latest vehicle to fall victim to Westwood's East Street bridge.

Video captured the firetruck coming to a sudden stop when the ladder on its roof hit the top of the bridge, which has a clearance of 10.5 feet.

The East Street bridge frequently causes damage to box trucks and other vehicles that are too tall to fit underneath the bridge.

Some chrome on the truck was damaged in addition to the fire ladder, but the bridge did not suffer any structural damage.

No one was injured and the driver of the fire truck was not cited.

Westwood Police said the MBTA has begun designs for an update to the bridge that they hope will alleviate issues of crashes in the area.
