Twitter Can't Agree On What Tom Brady Should Do Now

By Matt Dolloff, CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- SHOCKING NEWS: People on Twitter can't agree on something. And today it's about perhaps the most insufferable topic in sports history.

Whatever side of DeflateGate you lie on, you probably have a take on Tom Brady today. You probably have an idea of what he should do next. No matter what it is, you probably have millions of Tweeps who agree with you, and many others who do not. And, just like this case itself, the arguments may never end.

In case you've been in a mineshaft for the past two hours, news broke Wednesday morning that the Second Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Brady's request for a rehearing in the DeflateGate case, which has long morphed from a fight over air pressure in footballs into a sweeping labor battle between workers and corporate overlords. The Twitter reaction was swift.

Brady's only remaining recourse to avoid a four-game suspension (which every reasonable person would agree is outrageous) is to take the case all the way to the Supreme Court. But there's also that pesky contingent that just wants to move on with their lives and end this madness already - if only to get a four-game glimpse of Jimmy Garoppolo as Patriots quarterback. And there's a whole lot of scorching takes in-between.

Twitter is usually reliable for encapsulating a wide range of feelings in a series of 140-character quips, so it should come as no surprise that DeflateGate brought about more of the same in the immediate response to the news.

There was the crowd who think Brady should man up and continue fighting ...

And those who believe Brady should take the four games ... like a man.

And then there were the people who REALLY refuse to let Brady swallow his pride. If he can't play those four games, just quit playing forever!

But WBZ's Adam Kaufman summed up how pretty much everyone feels about this ...

Whatever Brady's legal team decides to do (they're probably going for the Hail Mary with the Supreme Court), DeflateGate simply refuses to die and so do everyone's takes on the matter. Good thing Patriots training camp starts so we can talk actual football ... right?
