Bruins Reportedly Sign John-Michael Liles To 1-Year Deal

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Bruins are bringing back John-Michael Liles.

The veteran defenseman, acquired by the Bruins at last season's trade deadline, agreed to a one-year deal to stay in Boston, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.

The deal was reported just minutes after free agency opened on Friday afternoon.

The Bruins traded prospect Anthony Camara as well as a third-round pick and a fifth-round pick to Carolina to acquire Liles last February.

Liles, 35, played in just 17 games for Boston, netting zero goals and six assists from the blue line. In his career with Colorado, Toronto, Carolina and Boston, he's played in 800 NHL games, accumulating 365 points and a minus-45 rating.

In a conference call with the media on Thursday, Bruins GM Don Sweeney said that talks with Liles had been "very, very productive."
