What Should Be Celtics' Sales Pitch To Kevin Durant?

BOSTON (CBS) -- It remains a long shot that Kevin Durant will sign with the Celtics, but the fact they're one of the six teams he's considering this summer is good news for the organization.

Durant will meet with the Thunder on Thursday, before free agency begins at midnight on July 1. After that, he'll hear what the Spurs, Warriors, Celtics, Heat and Clippers have to offer him, in hopes of making a decision by the end of next week.

So what should Boston's pitch be when they get their time with Durant? 98.5 The Sports Hub's Adam Jones and Rich Keefe broke it all down.

"My pitch would be it's easier to advance to the Finals in the East, and you're the guy," said Keefe. "Everywhere else you go you're going to be, even if you're a better player, you won't be the face of any other franchise except Oklahoma City. That's where I think he'll remain. If he goes somewhere else, it's the 'can't beat them, join them' mentality."

Boston's flexibility to add another star of Durant's choice is the pitch Jones would go with.

"Don't pitch the city or the championship history," he saids. "He doesn't give a crap about 17 championship banners here in Boston. Don't pitch him on the stability and don't pitch him on the city. My whole pitch is, pick a guy. Who is your guy?

"Is he a free agent right now? We'll sign him. Is he a trade target? Jimmy Butler, DeMarcus Cousins, Blake Griffin, Kevin Love? If you're coming here, we'll give up everything to get him," said Jones. "You tell us who it is, we'll get him, and that's the team. You'll have a say in it and you're not teaming up with someone else's Big 3. You get to have a hand in who you play with. Who do you want -- we'll get him.

"That's the pitch! Five minutes and you're done," said Jones.

Jones and Keefe also discussed what it means that Durant is actually considering the Celtics:
