MBTA Looking Into Video Of Buses Apparently Running Red Lights

BOSTON (CBS) -- The MBTA said Wednesday they are investigating after a video apparently showing buses running a red light was brought to their attention.

The dashcam video, posted on YouTube last Friday, appears to show two MBTA buses running a red light.

The MBTA said the video was brought to their attention Wednesday morning, and that the time stamp was incorrect and the area shown is not typically serviced by their buses. The organization said they believe the buses in the video were shuttling passengers between the Kendall and Park Street stops last Friday, when service was disrupted due to a cable fire.

According to the MBTA, the drivers of both buses have been identified, and their supervisors will collect statements from them Wednesday.

"The MBTA takes this very seriously, and supervisors are getting statements from both operators today," the organization said in a statement. "Safe driving is of paramount importance, and the MBTA will take whatever steps are necessary, including disciplinary action, to ensure that its bus operators comply with the rules and the law."
