Jay Talking Travel: Greece Episode Seven - Small Boats Of The Saronic Gulf

The essence of Greece is equal parts land, sea, and air. Unless you are inland, you will be aware that each is affected by the other two in a way I have not experienced before. An important part of immersion into this world is to embrace the small boat culture. Sure, there are yachts lined up in some areas, but there are also hundreds of small boats tied up at the docks of even the tiny Saronic Gulf islands of Aegina, Hydra, and Poros. As there was a ferry strike during my visit, I did not get to the famed islands of Santorini and Mykonos, but I'm actually glad things turned out the way they did. I was able to relax and spend four days on Aegina, and each evening I walked the docks and was intrigued by the funky little boats. There is a sense that anyone her who wants to can own a little boat with a little cabin. Many looked home-made, and a couple was building their own boat up the beach a bit.

I hope you enjoy the video.
