No Bail For Man Charged With Trying To Lure Teen For Sex In Framingham

FRAMINGHAM (CBS) --  A Rhode Island man accused of trying to solicit sex from a 14-year-old girl at Shoppers World in Framingham was ordered held without bail Tuesday.

Prosecutors said the teen was walking by herself in the parking lot near the Olive Garden restaurant on Monday afternoon when she was approached twice by 25-year-old Robert Toney of Providence.

They said he rolled his car window down, offered her money for sex and told her to get in his vehicle. Toney allegedly showed the girl money and touched her.

"The juvenile tried to walk away from the defendant and at one point he reached out and grabbed her arm and tried to pull her into the vehicle," the prosecutor said. "She tried to run and the defendant followed her until an independent witness saw the defendant grabbing her arm, pulled over, and approached."

Toney's attorney said his client was in the area at the time to buy a car and only approached the girl because he saw she was crying.

Police in Newton are also investigating a similar incident involving Toney, according to prosecutors.
