Baby Bottle Warmer, Rattle Recalled Over Safety Concerns

BOSTON (CBS) -- Hundreds of thousands of electric baby bottle and food warmers and hundreds of rattles have been recalled due to their safety risk.

Mayborn USA is recalling about 225,000 of its Tommee Tippee electric bottle and food warmers that can overheat and catch fire.

The company has received six reports of the warmers overheating, melting, smoking and catching on fire; which resulted in $16,000 in property damage, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Consumers should stop using the recalled item and contact the parent company Mayborn for free replacement warmers.

The Land of Nod is recalling its Octo-rattles because the tentacles of the fabric octopus rattles can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Although the company has received five reports of the rattle's fabric discs detaching, no injuries have been reported. The company is offering a refund to anyone who bought the rattle individually or as part of a gift set from its stores or online from September 2015 through April 2016.
