Marathon Bombing Survivor JP Norden Has Surgery To Repair Eardrums

BOSTON (CBS) – Boston Marathon bombing survivor JP Norden is undergoing surgery he hopes will help restore some of the hearing he lost during the explosions more than three years ago.

JP Norden was at the finish line with his brother Paul in 2013. Each brother lost a leg during the deadly attacks.

In an update Friday on the brothers' Facebook page, the Norden brothers said JP is at Brigham and Women's Hospital to have surgery to repair his ear drums.

When the bombs went off, JP lost about 80 percent of his hearing.

"Today's surgery will hopefully help him regain some of his loss," the post reads.

The surgery is expected to last about seven hours.
