Stevens' Extension With Celtics Reportedly For Three Years

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Celtics inked contract extensions with head coach Brad Stevens and president of basketball ops. Danny Ainge on Wednesday, though terms of those deals were not disclosed by the team.

The Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett is reporting that Stevens' extension was for three years, which will keep the coaching phenom in Boston for six more seasons:

According to sources, three years have been added to his contract at figures that will bring him more in line with the higher end of the league's coaching spectrum.

As Bulpett notes, Stevens will also be getting a nice raise after bringing Boston to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

Stevens is 113-133 in his three seasons on the Celtics' bench. After guiding an ever-changing roster to 25 wins in his first season in the NBA, Stevens has led the Celtics to 40 and 48 wins over the last two seasons, respectively. Boston lost in the first round of the playoffs in each of those seasons.

But Stevens clearly knows what he's doing in the NBA, and last season's 48-34 record (good for the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference) is further proof. Now Stevens and Ainge have to figure out a way to convince a superstar player to come join in on the fun.
