Terrance Knighton Will Keep Trying To Lure Kevin Durant To Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- While many Celtics fans have given up hope of Kevin Durant signing with Boston this offseason, one green teamer is on a mission.

And for good reason, too. Patriots defensive lineman Terrance "Pot Roast" Knighton, a Hartford native who bleeds green, is friends with the Thunder star. He hopes to use that relationship to lure Durant to Boston, and vows to continue his sales pitch when Durant's season comes to an end and he becomes a free agent.

"I'm leaving him alone right now, letting him finish it up. I love how he's playing. I hope he wins it. I kind of hope he doesn't," Knighton said after Thursday's OTAs at Gillette Stadium. "As soon as the season's over, if he's hoisting the trophy or not, I'll definitely be texting him every day, calling him, flying down to OKC.

"I'll be in his ear a lot, trust me," promised Knighton.

Durant and the Thunder are just one win away from knocking off the 73-win Golden State Warriors, and can advance to the NBA Finals with a Game 5 win Thursday night in Oakland. Given the Thunder's success throughout the playoffs, it's highly unlikely Durant will leave this offseason. But if Knighton wants to keep trying, no Celtics fans will stop him.

For now though, Knighton will be deep into the New England playbook as he learns his new team's system.

"I'm just taking it a day at a time; there is no big picture right now," he said, adding he'll be in the playbook and watching video during the long weekend. "I'm just looking around to see how it's done 'The Patriots' Way' and just trying to catch up."
