CVS Is Finally Doing Something About Those Extra-Long Receipts
WOONSOCKET, R.I. (CBS) – Can't stand those really long CVS receipts? Relief is on the way.
The Rhode Island-based retailer and pharmacy announced this week that ExtraCare Rewards program members will be able to opt out of the notoriously lengthy paper receipts. Instead, they can choose to get a digital receipt, plus their coupons and rewards, delivered by email.
CVS says signing up for digital receipts and the rewards program is a simple, one-time process that can be done in the store.
The excessive length of CVS receipts have been an annoyance for many customers and a running joke for late night comedians. Jimmy Kimmel even asked President Obama last year if there's anything he could do to make them shorter.
"We are excited to roll out the much-anticipated launch of digital receipts. We heard loud and clear that while our customers love receiving coupons and special offers, many wanted a paperless option," said Helena Foulkes, President, CVS Pharmacy.
CVS says that a paper copy of the receipt will always be available to customers who want one.
