Missing Boston College Student Found Safe

NEWTON (CBS) – A Boston College student who did not show up for graduation on Monday has been located safely.

Dana Morrissey, 23, was last seen at 7:30 a.m. on Monday getting dropped off by an Uber at Bloomingdale's on Route 9.

Police attempted to locate Morrissey using her cell phone, but it was off. Morrissey is a Winchester native.

On Monday around 3 p.m., police and firefighters began searching nearby Hammond Pond in Newton using boats and other equipment.

Around 5:30 p.m., a State Police K-9 unit found Morrissey safe in the woods.

Police told WBZ-TV's Julie Loncich that Morrissey was a bit dazed and confused, but otherwise fine.

She was brought to a waiting ambulance from the woods while sitting on a stretcher.

Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker said it was fortunate Morrissey was found before dark as colder temperatures would've set in.

"A lot of times we don't have happy endings with these stories. Today we do," Apotheker said.
