Major Changes Coming To Commuter Rail Schedule Monday
BOSTON (CBS) – There are adjustments coming to Commuter Rail schedules on Monday that transportation officials are calling "the most substantive changes in decades."
The Commuter Rail says the new schedules are designed to improve the trains' performance and schedule reliability.
One of the highlights of Monday's schedule revamp is a "bullet train" that will offer nonstop service between Worcester and Boston. The HeartToHub train will run once in the morning and evening every weekday, and aim to get riders from city to city in under an hour.
The MBTA looked at more than 9,000 online comments before setting the new schedules.
"After hearing feedback at public meetings and receiving thousands of comments from our customers, we have adjusted some schedules in order to better serve the people who use our commuter rail system," said MassDOT Secretary Stephanie Pollack. "This comprehensive update - the most substantive changes in decades - will lead to improved service and customer dependability."
