Quincy Man Gets Life In Prison For Ipswich Restaurant Slaying

SALEM (AP) — A Quincy man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for his role in the bludgeoning and stabbing death of an Ipswich restaurant owner during a failed robbery.

Sifa Lee was handed the mandatory sentence Thursday after being convicted by a Salem Sperior Court jury Wednesday of first degree murder.

In September 2011, the 38-year-old Lee and two others beat and stabbed 62-year-old Shui Keung "Tony" Woo inside the Majestic Dragon restaurant he owned as they tried to get him to open the restaurant's safe.

The Woo family said Thursday they remain "heartbroken" but thanked the jury for their decision and the Ipswich community for their support.

Co-defendant Cheng Sun was convicted of first-degree murder in February and Jun Di Lin, another co-defendant, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in 2014. Lin cooperated with authorities.
