Victim Of Taunton Rampage Remembered As 'Angel On Earth' At Funeral

TAUNTON (CBS) - "Our mother was an angel on earth," said Fred Slavin, the son of Patricia Slavin, who was killed a week ago during a rampage in Taunton.

On Wednesday, Pat Slavin was buried in Taunton, and eulogized in the church where she was so active.

"Her spirituality was powerful in life and will be in her death," said friend and fellow church member Merle Coughlin.

She was a mother of six children, and her kids spoke of her unfailing love and guidance. "Her love was unconditional," Fred Slavin said.

And the house was full of energy, and laughter. Fred recalled,

"I walked in once, and two of my brothers were playing cribbage," Fred recalled. "It was cheap entertainment in a busy house…and I said what were they playing for? And my mother said the loser gets the kids!"

Slavin was killed last week by Arthur DaRosa. When he got into a car wreck in front of their home, he knocked on Pat's door. Thinking it was someone who needed help, she opened the door to him. DaRosa stabbed her to death, and wounded her daughter, Kathleen.
