Parishoners Pray For Peace Days After Shooting Outside Church

DORCHESTER (CBS) - It's Sunday morning and folks inside Freedom in Christ Ministry Church in Dorchester pray for the violence to end.

Police say two families leaving church on Friday night were caught in a crossfire of bullets.  Several shots hitting the cars they were parked in on Washington Street. One of the bullets grazed the top of a woman's head. Fortunately she is expected to be okay.

"It's always scary because it could've been my mother, my sister, my grandmother, so it's always scary," elder Shawn Johnson said.

Police are now asking for the public's help to identify the shooters, who have sparked fear in folks who live in the area. A mother who did not want to be identified says she wants to move after hearing about the shooting.

"I was so scared. I thought something happened to my family and my kids and I think this area is unsafe," the woman said.

Witnesses say the suspects were arguing on the sidewalk before they started shooting. Then both men ran off leaving a mother bleeding in her car.

"We elders have to go out here and grab a hand and talk to them and tell them know to put the guns down,"  Johnson said.

Meanwhile the suspects are still on the loose causing great frustration among residents who continue to pray for safety.

"We need more security in this area and more police. I am afraid," the woman  said.
