Keller @ Large: Take A Break At The Movies
BOSTON (CBS) - You know what we haven't done in awhile?
Go to a movie.
So let's break out the listings and see what's playing.
I always check the local theatre first, even though I could swear I recognize some of the spilled popcorn on the floor from when I went there as a teenager.
They're showing "Captain America: Civil War." OK, I like both Captain America and war movies.
Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, I know nothing about those characters, but they sound good.
But uh-oh, it turns out the plot is about "political interference" in the Avengers' activities. No politics for me this weekend.
As Donald Trump might say, I like my escapism to be escapist.
How about "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice"?
Gee, there seem to be a lot of movies based on comic books. Can that be blamed on Trump too? And do they ever make one without a colon in the title?
I always like movies with an ethnic theme, so "Barbershop: The Next Cut" – despite the colon – and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2" are possibilities. And they certainly seem more upbeat and appealing than some of these other titles: "The Meddler," "Money Monster," "The Darkness."
Like I said – no politics, please!
I don't know, I wish the movie theaters well, but after fighting that traffic nightmare Thursday, I might just stay home and work on my new screenplay: "Bostonians vs. Cars: Final Gridlock."
