SUV Crashes Into Chelmsford Police Cruiser On I-495

LOWELL (CBS) -- An elderly driver and a Chelmsford police officer were taken to the hospital following a crash on I-495.

Police say the officer was working a construction detail northbound just before Exit 37 in Lowell shortly around 8p.m. Sunday when an SUV crashed into the cruiser. The officer was inside his cruiser.

Both the officer and the driver of the SUV -- a 71-year-old woman from Chelmsford -- suffered minor injuries.

Police say no charges have been filed yet.
