New Hampshire's First Medical Marijuana Dispensary Opens

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire's first medical marijuana dispensary is set to open after receiving its registration certificate.

Department of Health and Human Services officials say Sanctuary Alternative Treatment Center in Plymouth will open on Saturday.

Authorities say it's the first ATC in the Granite State to begin dispensing therapeutic cannabis to qualifying patients and caregivers.

New Hampshire's law to allow medical marijuana passed in 2013, but the state did not begin issuing identification cards on a regular basis to qualified patients until last month.

DHHS Commissioner Jeffrey Meyers says he's glad the day has finally arrived when those suffering from serious medical conditions can get medical marijuana in New Hampshire, beginning Saturday.
