"It was horrifying, the cars had hit the house; it was a big impact," a witness said. "It made a horrible noise, everyone came out. People stopped, people helped, people were so good, and then the police came."

A toddler in one of the vehicles was properly restrained and unharmed, according to police.

"The mother and the baby in the dark-colored car, someone said she broke her wrist and the baby seemed alert," the witness said. "The father, who was driving his son to school, in the red car, he seemed very injured; And the little boy was bloody too."

A gas line to the house was broken in the collision, and National Grid was at the scene to turn off the gas. Police said they needed to dig up the street in order to do so.

A building inspector was also at the scene of the crash.

No further information was yet available.
