Wednesday's Child: 14-Year-Old David

David is a kind, caring and thoughtful fourteen-year old boy of Caucasian and Hispanic descent. Engaging and energetic, David enjoys being outdoors and especially loves to hike, swim, play sports and ride his bicycle. He loves participating weekly in a dirt biking club through his current residential program. David plays well in a group and enjoys a simple game of catch or kickball, but also likes to participate on a basketball team. With adults, he likes receiving one-on-one attention. David has a good sense of humor and likes reading comic books. David has an Individualized Education Plan to assist him in school. He does best with hands-on activities. David is most interested in computer class and robotics. This school year, he wishes to learn more about computer programming. Overall, David is doing well academically and has benefited from the supports in school and his program.

David is living in a group home setting where he has formed positive relationships with his peers and the staff. According to his worker, he would continue to thrive in a home with two experienced parents who can provide him with both structure and nurturing. He should be the youngest or only child in the home. David is legally freed for adoption and would do well with a family who can support continued visits with his birth family and encourage his growth through therapy.
