1 Hospitalized After Heavy Fire At Lowell Home

LOWELL (CBS) -- One person was injured in a house fire in Lowell Monday night.

A family of four lives at the home on Cross Street, but only one person was home around 9:15 p.m. Monday when the fire broke out.

That female victim was taken to Lowell General Hospital for smoke inhalation.

When firefighters arrived, the fire was on the first and second floors in the building's rear, and mostly on the home's exterior. They prevented the fire from jumping to the house next door, and knocked the fire down within 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The damage to the home was estimated to be around $100,000.
