Red Sox 3B Sandoval To See Andrews About Shoulder

BOSTON (AP) — Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval is scheduled to see orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews on Monday for a second opinion on his strained left shoulder.

Speaking before Friday's game against Toronto, Boston president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski says there is "a great deal going on" in Sandoval's shoulder from a medical perspective.

Sandoval underwent an MRI on Thursday. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list before Wednesday's game.

Sandoval has appeared in only three games this season, going 0 for 6 with four strikeouts and committing an error in the field. He hit a disappointing .245 with 10 homers and 47 RBIs in 126 games in 2015.

He is in the second year of a $95 million, five-year deal signed during free agency in November 2014.
