Zolak & Bertrand: Julien, Bruins Show Lack Of Urgency
BOSTON (CBS) -- Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced on Thursday morning that Claude Julien will remain the team's head coach.
Scott Zolak and Marc Bertrand discussed the decision, as well as what Sweeney and Julien said at the joint press conference.
"Is [keeping Julien] the right move? Probably not," said Bertrand.
"I think they'd probably be better off trying to make some bigger changes to the organization. Do I think it's going to bring the team down because he's the head coach? No, definitely not. But I would say this about the press conference we just heard and the decision to keep him. It doesn't feel like there's a sense of urgency," Beetle continued.
One person who did show urgency was Sweeney, who put much of the responsibility for improving the roster on his shoulders.
"I will give Don Sweeney credit for this. In the first opening minutes of the press conference today, he said 'I need to do a better job,'" said Beetle. "I'll give him credit for that."
It wasn't so much what Julien said, but what he didn't say that bothered both Zolak and Bertrand.
"Let the coach hold himself accountable," said Beetle. "Let the coach say 'I didn't do the best possible job that I could've done this year.' That's all. I want to hear, at the very least, but it doesn't feel like we're going to get that."
