Danny Ainge Still Doesn't Consider Celtics Title Contenders, But 'The Extraordinary Is Possible'

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Celtics' big win over the Golden State Warriors last Friday understandably boosted confidence in the team's ability to make a run in the playoffs, and perhaps contend for a chance to make the NBA Finals.

But if they were to actually win the whole bleepin' thing? Team president Danny Ainge described such an achievement to Toucher & Rich as "extraordinary" if it were to happen, and while it's not impossible he remained steadfast in his belief that the Celtics still cannot legitimately make a championship run.

"I believe the extraordinary is possible, but I do not look at our team as a team that is a title contender," said Mr. Ainge. "But like I always say, I think that it's most important what they (the players & coaches) think. I hope they believe differently."

Perhaps Mr. Ainge would say...Anything is possible?

Mr. Ainge added that the Celtics do not feel ready to contend for a championship this year because of their "ups and downs" on the offensive side of the court and because they get "taken out" of their game too often. But he acknowledged how fun they've been to watch, and that they've almost entirely met his expectations for the season so far.
