Rob Gronkowski Helps Out At Special Olympics Competition In Ashland
ASHLAND (CBS) -- Eighty students from five different towns participated in a Special Olympics competition, with New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski and other players helping out Friday morning at Ashland High School.
With the competition's theme being football, Gronkowski led the kids during a stretching session.
The kids showed their athletic abilities by taking part in multiple flag football stations in the high school gym.
Thomas, a seventh-grade Special Olympian from Medway, says he was excited to see Gronk. The only way the competition could have been better was if Tom Brady was there too, he added.
Organizer Kathy Silva, who serves as the director of pupil services at Ashland High, says the event is a win for everyone involved.
"It's the way it should be when you think about one-in-six people will have a disability within their lifetime, that's our community," she told WBZ News Radio 1030's Karen Twomey.
