'Sopranos' Actor To Portray Menino In Boston Marathon Bombing Movie, Reports Say

BOSTON (CBS) – One of the cast members of "The Sopranos" has reportedly been chosen to play the late Boston Mayor Tom Menino in a movie about the marathon bombings.

Deadline and Variety said Friday that Vincent Curatola will portray the five-term mayor in "Patriots Day," which stars Mark Wahlberg.

Menino was recovering from leg surgery and using a wheelchair when bombs went off at the finish line in April 2013, and had to talk doctors into letting him out of the hospital to help manage the response.

Months after leaving office as Boston's longest-serving mayor, Menino died of cancer in October 2014.

Curatola is best known for playing Johnny Sack on "The Sopranos."

It was recently announced that John Goodman would play former Boston Police Commissioner and WBZ-TV security analyst Ed Davis. J.K. Simmons has also signed on to play heroic Watertown Sgt. Jeffrey Pugliese.

"Patriots Day" is set to be released Dec. 21.
