Security Experts Discuss Keeping A Safe And Secure Workplace At WBZ Business Breakfast

BOSTON (CBS) -- Security experts discussed the different approaches that can be taken to maintain a safe and secure workplace at the WBZ Business Breakfast on Thursday at The Westin Copley Place in Boston.

The event, moderated by WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Joe Mathieu, featured a panel including Boston Police Commissioner William Evans, former Police Commissioner Ed Davis, FBI Special Agent In Charge Harold Shaw, and Lexington Schools Superintendent Dr. Mary Czajkowski.

The panel provided an overview of the safety practices employers need to know to protect their employees and organization.

In light of the events in Brussels, Belgium, Shaw says because Boston was a terrorist target before there was perhaps a higher preparedness here.

"Boston, the greater community, law enforcement services, (they) understand that because we were attacked there is a sense of vulnerability," he said, "And we have to be on our game in order to do our job."

Shaw says they are working to get out in front of any threat, and he wants the public to be prepared and involved in keeping all of us safe.

"We're all involved (and) we all have a role," he said, "So in terms of 'see something, say something,' it's critical in terms of any potential threat that's out there."
