Sen. Elizabeth Warren Calls Donald Trump A 'Loser' In Facebook Post

BOSTON (CBS) -- Sen. Elizabeth Warren took to Facebook Monday to share her feelings about GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump in a post now shared by nearly 40,000 people.

"Let's be honest – Donald Trump is a loser," begins Warren's post, calling out Trump using one of the candidate's own favorite insults.

"Trump seems to know he's a loser," she continues. "His embarrassing insecurities are on parade: petty bullying, attacks on women, cheap racism, and flagrant narcissism. But just because Trump is a loser everywhere else doesn't mean he'll lose this election. People have been underestimating his campaign for nearly a year – and it's time to wake up."

Warren also shared her message in a series of tweets Monday.

Sen. Warren has so far tried to distance herself from the presidential race, refusing to endorse a candidate from her own party. But the senator is very clear on the subject of the Republican party's front-runner.

Warren urged her followers to consider the issues at stake in the upcoming presidential election and focus on "The chance to be better people."

"More than anyone we've seen before come within reach of the presidency, Donald Trump stands ready to tear apart an America that was built on values like decency, community, and concern for our neighbors," she writes.

"The way I see it," Warren closes, "it's our job to make sure he ends this campaign every bit the loser that he started it."

As for Trump's response?

Trump responded to questions about Warren's posts Monday by making a reference to the controversy over Warren's claims of Native American heritage.
